Medical claim costs – a key driver of premiums – are expected to increase by 32 percent for individual health policies under the health care reform law, according to an announcement by the Society of Actuaries (SOA). While some states may see a reduction in costs, most will see double-digit increases in the individual insurance market. The SOA did not analyze the impact on employer-sponsored plans.
